Hi to everyone and a very Happy New Year! I've been absent from this network board for a while because of having to learn how BAD our nursing home situation in the USA really is. On November 3rd, 2006 my Mom was moved from a secure Assisted Living facility for Alzheimers to the nursing home next door. On November 5th, she apparently broke her hip (but no one knows anything about it....how it happened, when it happened, etc.).
I found her stiff/rigid like a piece of wood that wouldn't bend, shaking in shock and pain lying in her bed. The floor nurse wouldn't come into her room to check her when I requested. I spent an hour begging him to take a look at her and all the response I received from him was that she was fine, just adjusting to her new home.
To cut a long story very short.....she had broken her hip but this nursing home continued to try to get her to walk for 2 more days before they informed the Dr. who ordered xrays which discovered the break.
She went to Emergency and the following day had partial hip replacement. My Mom is 83 years old and is in the last stages of Alzheimers. She has really done very well over the past several years because of taking Tahitian Noni juice. It handled her severe Arthritis pain, kept her leg from buckling which allowed her to continue walking and also kept her physical health in very good shape.
Unfortunately, this accident took a very hard toll on my Mom because of her Alzheimers and she became unable to continue to swallow in order to eat or drink. I had her returned to this nursing home because I couldn't find another one available at the time.
This nursing home continued to be negligent with care(dried feces left on her, Drs. orders not carried out, blatant disrespect and lack of care) and within less than 2 weeks, she had lost 10 pounds, weighing only about 74 lbs and obviously wouldn't last much longer at this rate. The nursing staff and the Dr. hadn't told me much about this or given me any idea of what was going on, and had not done anything to correct the situation.
By the time she was seriously aspirating her food and drink and we got her out of there and into the hospital, no one thought that she would or could live. However, she is in a different nursing home now, has gained back most of her lost 10 lbs and has a great deal of her pre-accident cognizance back. Unfortunately, all the severe shock and trauma has kept her from being able to walk again and she can no longer eat or drink solids. She is on a feeding tube (with Tahitian Noni juice and Eniva liquid vitamins being given to her) and is doing much better.
So, to put it mildly, I have been very busy fighting Drs., nursing homes, etc. Anyone who lives in the Denver area, I highly recommend that you AVOID the Julia Temple nursing home. If you want to know more about what I saw while there, please feel free to private message me.
I'm back now and while I know that Mom will probably not live much longer, she is enjoying seeing me and my Dad, laughing some, being very feisty, hugging us and kissing us. That is a wonderful thing to see and have, even if just for a short time.
I will be sharing with this network some of the neat things that I've seen while utilizing Tahitian Noni juice to help my Mom. We recently put noni juice in her hand on gauze with a plastic glove overnight and she has gotten so much calmer and much freer from pain in her legs. We are so grateful for Tahitian Noni juice because absolutely nothing modern medicine has given her for relief for calmness and pain relief did anything much for her except drug her into oblivion.
I ask for your positive thoughts and prayers for her continued positive forward progress, relief from pain and enjoyment of what quality of life there can still be for her. Thank you so much.
