Turn your old cell phone into Cash !Views: 429

We tend to leave our old mobile phones in our drawers or cupboards, but do you know that you can turn your old cell phone into cash?

Sounds pretty cool…..

If you’re residing in UK, Mopay.co.uk is willing to turn your unwanted mobile phones in cash AND donate an extra 10% of the sale of your mobile to Child Line… The site is priding itself on its easy of use and the ability to sell your phone in three easy steps. The price you get depends on the model and the condition of your phone. For example, a excellent condition t68 will reap you 4 pounds whereas an average conditioned Nokia 6230 will get you 35 pounds !

On the other hand, if you’re in US, you can always cash in from RipMobile - one of many companies willing to pay in cash or merchandise for old cellphones. Prices vary depending on the phone’s continued utility and the demand for it; some can be worth $100 or more. Popular Motorala and Nokia phoes will typically bring $2 to $20; the hottest models, like Motorola’s Moto Razr V3, seem to fetch the most. Instead of dollars, RipMobile gives points that can be converted to gift certificates at Circuit City, MSN Music, KarmaLoop (for clothing) and RingToneJukeBox.com (ring tones, games and screen savers for cellphones).

At sites like cellforcash.com can allow you to cash in more cash when you refer a friend. Currently, they are running a Refer a Friend and Make $5 . I reckon this is an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC deal not to be missed. You not only get to help the environment heaps but also helping your wallet

If you’re not in for the cash or you reckon that your cell phones couldn’t fetch the price that you want, you can still help the earth and rustle by recycling.

RustletheLeaf.com have teamed up with Collective Good to offer you a way to both safely recycle your old cell phone, PDA or pager and support the work of Rustle the Leaf Environmental Comics !

Recycling is easy with Collective Goods because they’ve created a collection process that costs you NOTHING - not even postage. And, any proceeds from recycling your old phone will help to keep Rustle, Rooty, Dandy and Paige walkking, talking, joking and truth-telling well into the future !

So why recycle?

You may not know it, but the production and disposal of mobile phones and other mobile electronic devices (pagers, PDAs, etc.) presents a growing threat to human health and to the environment.
Some sobering facts:

There are almost a billion mobile phones waiting to be recycled around the world; either in drawers, or already in the waste stream. Another 130 million or so will be added this year from the US alone.

Once in the waste stream, these devices and their batteries leak Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic and other toxic substances into the water supply. How large is the problem? Consider this–today’s consumer electronics constitute 40% of the lead found in landfills!

The main concern in regard to the presence of lead and other toxins in landfills is the potential for contamination of drinking water supplies. Here’s an example of how easily it happens: Municipalities often incinerate their waste, instantly putting these toxic elements into the air, after which they return to earth in rain water. Since life on Earth depends on water, the threat is clear.

The toxins released into the environment from decaying electronics affect the human brain, heart, lungs, blood, kidneys, bones, nerves and more. And they have the same (or worse) kind of effect on smaller animals and plant life.

The verdict:

Protect the Earth! Help Rustle! Recycle Your Mobile Electronics TODAY !!
